School News
Dear Parents,
As most of you are aware, there are traffic and parking issues outside our school most mornings. I feel that the solution for at least some of the problems lies within our school community. Also, I feel that as a school community the alleviation of any problems related to traffic will have to be addressed, going forward, as we seek planning for our promised new building.
There is a practice of parents waiting at the line for their child to go into class. This is not typical in many schools. I think one way of helping, your child and traffic issues is for parents, leaving Junior Infants and Senior Infant pupils to school, is to bring them to the school and leave when they see that supervision is in place. Typically the smaller children are supervised in the front yard from 8.50am and the bigger children in the rear yard from the same time. Any problems or difficulties (rarely) are brought to my attention.
As things are now there are difficulties for Fiona and Marita supervising as there is a wall of adults at the White Line and they cannot see the children beyond it. There are also small pre-school children in the way, some of whom are running around the infant yard and causing extra problems for our staff.
Now that the Junior Infants, in particular, are very settled, we would like to encourage their independence and integration, by parents leaving them to play before school.
If you feel that you must stay and watch your child at play, please do so from outside the school wall and ensure your car is not parked at the school or obstructing any of the neighbouring houses.
Sincerely,
Liam Burke
