Update on the school development plan.

As a representative of the school development plan sub – committee I would like to take this opportunity to give you all an update on progress made to date. As you might recall back in February 09 all our stakeholders – parents, students, staff and patrons were invited to make submissions to help with the formulation of our school development plan. The responses we received were categorised into three broad headings a) infrastructural, b) curriculum, c) lifestyle.

By its very nature a school plan is an ongoing work in progress and demands that action be taken. Many of the major issues that arose have now been addressed. Two of the main concerns for all our stakeholders were a) the condition of our school toilet facilities and b) the condition of our playing pitch. Over the past few months much time, effort and finance has been spent on improving these amenities.

The toilets were upgraded over the Easter break to a very high standard. It is envisaged that they will now be fit for their purpose until we get our permanent extension. The playing field has had work done on it to improve its drainage and netting has been placed behind the goal posts as requested.

There have been huge investments in the area of IT with many classrooms now having a laptop and data projector. Similarly there has been investment in the area of music with new instruments purchased and also in the areas of learning support, the library and indeed sport.

In conclusion it is fair to say that much has been done and there is still lots more to be done! Finally this plan can only continue to succeed if it is a collaborative approach and we as a board do not want to raise people’s expectations without following through. We would like to thank most sincerely all our staff, parents, students and patrons who took the time out of their busy schedules to help us to get to where we are today.

Georgina Brangan/Flynn.
