School News
Dear Parents,
As outlined in a previous newsletter, the Board of Management have decided to enrol two classes of Junior Infants in the school for the 2010/2011 school year. The decision to go with two classes was based on the projected figure of 58 pupils beginning school for the new school year and the desire of the Board to accommodate pupils from the parish and siblings of pupils already in the school.
To date all parents who applied for a place have been offered places for their children.
We have now 54 children ready to be enrolled for September. However, this number is slightly below our projection. There are also 9 or 10 children, so far, whose parents have indicated that they will be moving out of the area and not returning to Whitecross School.
These projected figures indicate to the Board that there will be an enrolment of 375 children in the school for September 2010. This figure will leave us 10 pupils short of being in a position to employ a permanent teacher. We will be able to employ a temporary teacher, but for that position to remain open in the school we will need a total of 385 pupils.
The Board feels that if parents are aware some may be able to share this information with other parents who may want to enrol their child(ren) in Whitecross School in September. There are vacancies in almost all classes from Junior Infants up to Fourth Class for 2010/2011.
Interested parents are welcome to contact me in the school by phone or email.
Sincerely,
Liam Burke
